JA Mascareignes was introduced to me by a professional in my network and is the next NGO which I would like to shed some light on as this is an organization that walks the talk and builds a better tomorrow through the youth of the country.
So far JA Mascareignes has had over 100 thousand children go through at least one of their programs since they started in 2009.

I met some of the team on Wednesday 27th of April 2022, of which included Michele Lionnet, Anousha Duva Pentiah-Hurkhoo and Oorvashi Panchoo.
It quickly became clear that this team does what it does out of a sense of principle and motivated by their own passion to serve.

JA Mascareignes is connected to JA Worldwide and operates out of Mauritius.
Their purpose regarding the youth is;

-To enhance their sense of personal responsibility so that they become responsible citizens.
-To enable them to identify the relevant issues and existing opportunities in their immediate environment.
-To teach them entrepreneurship and life skills making them aware of the social and economic environment in which they live and work.
-To prepare young people to face the challenges of life after school.
that exists to help and empower others, specifically children.

The three pillars of what they educate and inspire the youth relate to Work Readiness, Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy. Subjects which unfortunately are not properly embraced by the the mainstream education system.
School these days rely on legacy curriculums which, most of the time, do not encourage critical thinking and creativity.

JA Mascareignes achieve their mission through their passion and dedication to serve & make a difference through their programs which are powered through their various partners.

In the weeks and months to come I will be giving my time to meet students, as an entrepreneur, to talk about the mindset and attitudes that will help them reach their goals and be the best they can be.
