Roche Bois

On Thursday 21st July, two days after the MoU signing between GRF and KC, I attended one of their monthly mobile medical camps which happened in Roche Bois, Mauritius.

The mobile medical camp, which comprises of a customized workshop truck, a range of medical professionals, assistants and equipment is geared towards providing medical facilities for the disabled and disadvantaged around the island of Mauritius for free.

Some of doctors and health professionals on-site were, optometrists, paramedics, psychologists, prosthetic technicians and more.
This is a list of check-ups and health facilities that were available at this camp and are usually available at these mobile medical camps:

  • Medical assessment by Doctors of GRF and Anna Medical College
  • Psychological counselling
  • Blood test by Green Cross (Anemia & diabetes included)
  • Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist assessment
  • Breast cancer screening
  • ECG (electrocardiogram — heart check-up)
  • eyes check-up by Farouk Hossen Optician
  • Prosthesis and Orthosis Specialist

This was one of multiple rooms with various health departments

I was invited to have a check-up myself which included a blood pressure and an ECG test. Besides the relief of all being normal, it was a pleasure to go through that process. It was professional and efficient.

Checking my blood pressure prior to ECG test

None of this is would be possible without the partners and collaborators of GRF. As I am creating content about a particular event and NGO I think it’s only fair to acknowledge and pay respect to the partners of GRF that have contributed to this medical camp.
Anna Medical College, Farouk Hossen Co ltd, Green Cross, Indian Oil & Audencia Business school.

I am happy to have met this trio of French students from Audencia Business school, who are here in Mauritius for a total of 8 weeks where they are working daily with GRF to help identify areas of possible optimization as part of a social and solidarity project which is part of their studies.
At the medical camp they were in-charge of taking the BMI of each community member that came in.

I will be keeping in close touch with Professor Parsuramen and Beejaye Ramchurn to keep up to date with their progress and find other events and avenues to collaborate on as we each move forward.
The Global Rainbow Foundation comprises of many heroes without capes which go the extra mile to improve the standard of living for many.
